Reading aloud

When we (myself and my older siblings) were little there was always a read aloud going. Every night we would sit down in the living room and Daddy would take out two books. 1. the bible and 2. what ever we were reading aloud at the time. Some of my favorites included The Scarlet Pimpernail, Black Fox of Lorne and The Lord of the Rings. We are now revisiting the past and reading The Lord of the Rings again. My little brother dosn't remeber that some of the hobbets at Bilbo's birthday party left by a back way and came back in at the front so as to get another presant. He dosn't remember Tom Bombadill or the scouring of the Shire. These are all things that he should know. Things that should always be available in the back of his mind incase he ever wants to revivsit them, and things that I like to revisit both in my mind and in the book. So we are reading again, and I am watching Bren get these things for the first time and through him I am seeing them newly too and it is fun.

If I were a bird...

I think, if I were a bird, I would like to be a peacock...

Or maybe an albino peacock...

Or maybe, if I couldn't make up my mind, I would be both...

I know it isn't red - red shoes and peacock feathers - but swirls, orange, pink! It was just so cute that I decided to roll with it any way... so sue me =).

Things got a little ... interesting at times...

 Or the camera wouldn't focus...

Or someones head got chopped off...

 Brothers picked up sisters ...

 And we eventually decided to be grateful that we got at least one good picture for this years Christmas card

Christmas!

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year.

For us it always starts the day after Thanksgiving when we go to Roberts Christmas Tree Farm and get our tree. Usually we go for the 10-13 foot ones, the kind that have to be tied to the ceiling. But this year we opted for a 7 footer. I like it better, it doesn't take up the whole living room like the old ones used to, and it just stands there! It doesn't need to be tied to anything! It's like magic!

This year my brothers all went and played a football game before we went treeing. I was up before Mom and by the time she came down stairs the stockings were up, the Nutcrackers were on the media cabinet and I was putting bells on the front door. 

We are listening to Charlie Brown Christmas music by Vince Guaraldi. That guy has incredible piano fingers!
